2023 Service Members of the Year Honored by Military Times and the Military Times Foundation
ARLINGTON, Va., July 20, 2023 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - In an annual tradition spanning 22 years, the Military Times and its non-profit subsidiary, the Military Times Foundation, celebrated the 2023 "Service Members of the Year" on July 18th. These awards recognize one exemplary military member from each branch of U.S. military service, active duty, Guard or Reserve, who have surpassed the call of duty. The recipients were honored at a gala event at the Ronald Regan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC, attended by congressional, military, and community leaders.
The award winners, who were nominated by their peers and commanding officers, were selected based on their outstanding actions in their military careers, recent personal experiences highlighting the changing needs and institutional agility essential for modern military readiness, and their significant community service contributions outside the military institutions. This year's recipients were Air Force Major Katie Lunning, Coast Guard Lieutenant Chelsea Sheehy, Space Force Captain Victoria Garcia, Marine Master Sergeant Kevin Haunschild, Navy Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Anthony Anglikowski, Army Master Sergeant Justin Bolin, and Veteran Command Sgt. Maj. (Ret.) Lindsey Streeter.
Michael Reinstein, Chairman of Military Times Foundation, expressed his pride in the awardees, saying, "We are proud to recognize these exceptional service members who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in their military careers and community service. Their commitment and sacrifice embody the best of our armed forces, and we are proud to celebrate their achievements at the 2023 Service Members of the Year event."
