The farm is about three times the size of the company’s previous largest facility and is reported to be at least four times as productive. Built at a cost of $95 million, the facility is expected to create 125 new jobs in Kentucky.

During a preview tour, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear remarked, "There is nothing like this anywhere else in the world. I am so proud that this level of technology, where advanced manufacturing meets farming is right here in Kentucky."

The facility was built inside a repurposed printing facility and utilizes the company’s proprietary Loop platform for its operations. Developed by 80 Acres Farms' tech-focused subsidiary, Infinite Acres, the Loop platform integrates crop management software, algorithms, environmental controls, robotics, and automation. The farm is positioned to serve multiple states and markets, including about 700 new Kroger stores that were recently announced.

Mike Zelkind, CEO and co-founder of 80 Acres Farms, stated, "To support our expansion into new markets and new products, we need more capacity. This is our most efficient farm yet, allowing us to keep improving our unit economics and keep growing this company sustainably."

Ruth Gratzke, President of Siemens Smart Infrastructure USA, who attended the grand opening, added, "Siemens is a proud supplier of both hardware and software solutions at the farm. We are looking forward to helping 80 Acres Farms expand even further across the U.S. and the world, making their goal of worldwide food security a reality."

The company also revealed plans for a similar 200,000-square-foot farm in Georgia, slated to open in 2024.
