MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., February 8, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union has pledged its support to the McLeod Health Foundation with a donation of $100,000 over the next five years according to a recent press release. This contribution underscores the credit union's commitment to supporting healthcare advancements and medical excellence within the community.

The McLeod Health Foundation, the philanthropic arm of McLeod Health, focuses on generating support to maintain and enhance medical excellence. Currently, the foundation is engaged in a $2 million fundraising campaign to acquire a PET/CT and CT scanner for the new Center for Cancer Treatment and Research at Seacoast. This center, poised to be the first Comprehensive Cancer Center in Horry County, represents a significant advancement in cancer care, with a total investment exceeding $32 million.

The upcoming center will introduce cutting-edge care and technology to the region, including a stereotactic radiosurgery unit, a large bore CT scanner, and a digital PET/CT scanner. These tools aim to improve patient health and well-being significantly. The center is designed to provide immediate access to advanced cancer treatment technologies and foster enhanced communication and coordination among treatment providers, all within an environment focused on the physical and emotional health of patients and their families.

Tim Carlisle, President/CEO of Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union, expressed the organization's dedication to community improvement, stating, “With a strong sense of mission, Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union is dedicated to improving the communities it serves. Cancer affects people of all backgrounds and makes no distinctions in their life. By contributing to the McLeod Foundation, we will help them in their mission to support cancer patients who are unable to pay for essential treatments, such as medicine and other life-saving procedures, or who struggle to get to their chemotherapy appointments.”

In addition to financial support, Carolina Trust has taken steps to raise awareness about the Comprehensive Cancer Center and breast cancer by featuring Christina Jackson, Director of the McLeod Health Foundation, and Nicole Spencer, Assistant Director of Oncology Services for McLeod Health, on its monthly panel, Living Local Carolina Financial Friday.
