Chile Ranks Third in Foreign Direct Investment in Latin America in 2022, Reports InvestChile

SANTIAGO, Chile, July 12, 2023 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - InvestChile, the Investment Promotion Agency of Chile, expressed satisfaction with the latest report on foreign direct investment (FDI) published by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). According to the World Investment Report, Latin America received a historic total of US $224,579 million in FDI in 2022.

Among the countries in the region, Brazil took the top spot with 41% of the total FDI, followed by Mexico with 17%. Chile secured the third position, capturing 9% of the investments, while Colombia received 8%, Argentina received 7%, and Peru received 5%.

Karla Flores, the Director of InvestChile, acknowledged Chile's noteworthy performance, particularly considering the challenging global economic conditions in 2022. She stated, "Chile not only managed to increase foreign investment amidst a complex year but also positioned itself ahead of larger markets such as Argentina, Colombia, and Peru." Flores further highlighted that when considering the amount of foreign investment in relation to the size of each country's economy, Chile emerges as the regional leader.
