City of Garland, Texas, to Upgrade Community Development with Clariti Software

DOVER, Del., July 25, 2023 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - The City of Garland, Texas, has chosen Clariti's Community Development Software as a key component in their redevelopment and revitalization goals. Unisys, a trusted Clariti partner, will oversee the platform's implementation.

Situated in the Dallas/Fort Worth Region, one of the fastest-growing regions in the U.S., Garland is a first-ring suburb of Dallas and the fifth largest city in the region. Each year, the city processes approximately 11,000 building permits, conducts nearly 32,000 inspections, and generates between $3 to $4 million in permitting-related revenue.

Brita Van-Horne, Garland’s Chief Building Official, shared that the current system's limitations often necessitate significant staff interaction with customers through phone or email, with an average of about 52,000 phone calls per year. The decision to switch to Clariti's software stems from the need for an online portal and a desire to enhance customer and staff experiences.

"We wanted a system that can help the customer interact with us in the easiest, most efficient way possible," Van-Horne stated. "We also wanted staff to be able to see the bigger picture of what’s going on from one screen and more easily communicate with each other."

The Clariti software will be utilized by all teams involved in development, including building, planning, inspections, code compliance, and engineering.

"We’re thrilled to work with Garland to deliver a modern platform that provides complete transparency into all elements of the development process," said Cyrus Symoom, Clariti Co-CEO.
