FAIRFIELD, N.J., September 19, 2023 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - UNICO National, the largest Italian American service organization in the United States, has named ESPN National Correspondent Sal Paolantonio as the Honorary National Spokesman for its 2023-24 fundraising and membership campaign. The announcement was made by UNICO National President Cav. Ralph Contini and follows the organization's 100th Annual Convention.

"Sal is an internationally known legend in sports journalism. We are honored to have him as Honorary National Spokesman. We are taking UNICO to new heights," Contini stated. He further expressed that Paolantonio will "elevate our visibility and prestige, helping to expand our brand, membership, and sponsors."

Sal Paolantonio shared his enthusiasm, saying, "I was honored to be the Master of Ceremonies of UNICO's 100th Anniversary Gala where new president Ralph Contini asked if I could do more, and I immediately said yes! I'm honored to work with Ralph and this tremendous organization."

Paolantonio is a highly-regarded figure in sports journalism, primarily covering the National Football League for various ESPN programs, including SportsCenter and NFL Live. He has won seven Emmy Awards and is the longest-tenured studio host and reporter at ESPN. Before embarking on his journalism career, Paolantonio served as a U.S. Navy surface warfare officer and was awarded the United Nations Meritorious Service Medal for his role in the rescue of Vietnamese refugees.

The newly appointed spokesman aligns well with UNICO's motto of "Service Above Self." Paolantonio is already an active supporter of multiple nonprofits and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Cooper Hospital Foundation and Jaws Youth Partnership.

UNICO National is a nonprofit that offers over $1,000,000 annually in scholarships and supports various causes including mental health wellness, cancer research, food banks, and shelters. This year's gala honored a host of distinguished individuals, including Tony Capuano, CEO of Marriott International, and Lieutenant General Bob Caslen, U.S. Army (Ret.), among others.
