Kentucky Peerless Distilling Releases First Batch of Toasted Bourbon

LOUISVILLE, Ky., March 6, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - The Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company has announced the launch of its Toasted Bourbon Batch 1, set to be released on March 16, 2024, at their Louisville distillery. This marks the company's first foray into toasted bourbon, expanding its portfolio of craft spirits.

The release event will take place at the distillery located at 120 North 10th Street, Louisville, KY, starting at 10 a.m. The first 100 bottles sold will feature a special numbered label, and the distillery will host bottle signings from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will be a limit of two bottles per customer.

The Toasted Bourbon is aged in two types of oak barrels. Initially, it is aged in a char level 3 barrel, where it develops flavors of caramel, brown sugar, and toffee. It is then transferred to a toasted barrel for finishing, which adds layers of honey, vanilla, toasted spices, and chocolate to the whiskey. This dual-barrel aging process is designed to enhance the bourbon's aroma and taste profile.

John Wadell, Peerless Head Taster, explained the choice of barrel for the finishing process: “We hand-select each barrel for the finishing process. We chose to use a medium toast because it contains less tannins, which results in a more aromatic whiskey with warm, sweet, savory character and strong vanilla overtones.”
