MANCHESTER, UK, July 21, 2023,(VSNewsNetwork.com) - Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, partnered with local vendor Colin to sell The Big Issue magazine in Manchester, offering him firsthand insight into the experiences of a Big Issue vendor. Donning a red Big Issue tabard, Burnham, who is this week's cover star of the magazine, spent Thursday afternoon vending the periodical alongside Colin outside HOME in the city centre.

The Big Issue, a social enterprise that offers people facing poverty and exclusion the opportunity to earn their own money, has been sold across the UK since May, following Big Issue North's decision to halt publication in the north of England. Vendors purchase magazines for £2 and sell them for £4, with online subscriptions also available as an essential supplementary income source.

"I’m out here showing Colin I support him and supporting The Big Issue more broadly, everything it stands for, everything it’s done, everything it’s achieved," Burnham said. The mayor is one of Colin's regular customers, and the two have developed a strong rapport over the years.

In an exclusive interview featured in this week's magazine, Burnham discussed his efforts to combat homelessness in Greater Manchester, Prince William's homelessness campaign, and the importance of overcoming the culture wars that have dominated political debate in Westminster.
