Mpact Announces New Board Leadership for 2024-2025
MINNEAPOLIS, December 14, 2023 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - Mpact, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering transit-oriented communities, has announced its new board of directors for the 2024-2025 term. The newly elected officers bring diverse expertise to Mpact, which has been influential in shaping community development around public transportation for over three decades.
The new board lineup includes Flora M. Castillo, President of Pivot Strategies, LLC, who will serve as President of Mpact. She is joined by Taiwo Jaiyeoba, City Manager and CEO of Greensboro, North Carolina, as Vice President; Paul Skoutelas, President and CEO of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), as Treasurer; and Adelee Le Grand, Strategic Advisor with Intellectual Concepts, LLC, as Secretary. Diana Mendes, Corporate President for Infrastructure and Mobility Equity at HNTB, will continue her involvement as Immediate Past President. Their official terms are set to commence on January 1, 2024.
Mpact, initially founded as Rail~Volution, has been a key player in connecting leaders and advocates in public transportation, land use, and development. The organization is renowned for its annual conference, Mpact Transit + Community, and its initiatives such as Mpact:LAB for leadership development and Mpact:VOICES for year-round learning.
Flora M. Castillo, incoming President of Mpact, expressed her enthusiasm about the future of the organization. “This is a very exciting and challenging time for the transportation and infrastructure industry,” Castillo said. She emphasized her commitment to advancing Mpact’s mission alongside the new board members. “I am honored to serve as a steward of Mpact’s mission, as we work to innovate and share models for leveraging transit, mobility, and development investments to create great places to live for all people.”
Castillo, recognized for her work in health care and public transportation, has served on the New Jersey Transit Board of Directors and as Chair of APTA. Alongside Mendes, she was appointed by U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to the USDOT Advisory Committee on Transportation Equity in August 2023.
Diana Mendes, the outgoing Board President, reflected on her tenure with Mpact. “Since the beginning, our organization has supported creating thriving, vibrant, sustainable communities through investment in transit.
