Kidney Care Community Commends Congress for Taking Steps to Address Forecast Error Adjustment

Kidney Care Partners (KCP), a coalition representing various stakeholders in the kidney care community, has praised the efforts of Congress in addressing payment unpredictability in the End-Stage Renal Disease Prospective Payment System (ESRD PPS). The bipartisan letters, led by Senators Ben Cardin and Marsha Blackburn and Representatives Mike Kelly and Terri Sewell, were sent to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), urging them to implement a forecast adjustment framework in the CY 2024 ESRD PPS. The current payment methodology has resulted in significant forecast errors, creating financial challenges for dialysis providers. KCP supports the adoption of a clear and consistent framework to address forecast errors, ensuring sustainable and high-quality care for individuals with kidney disease.
