NBA's Cole Anthony and Mother, Author Crystal McCrary McGuire, Launch GameUp App to Enhance Youth Basketball Development
NEW CITY, N.Y., August 16, 2023 (Newswire.com) - NBA Orlando Magic player Cole Anthony and his mother, New York Times Best-Selling author and media innovator Crystal McCrary McGuire, are co-founding GameUp, an app designed to transform youth basketball development.
Scheduled to launch in the tri-state area this September, GameUp aims to reshape how families engage with youth sports, providing a comprehensive tool to assist parents in navigating the complex world of youth basketball.
"As a mother of three youth athletes at every level and firsthand witness to the challenges of youth basketball, I recognized the need for a comprehensive tool to help parents navigate this complex world," said Crystal McCrary McGuire. "With GameUp, we are providing a reliable, one-stop solution." GameUp features include finding and matching teams, an extensive database of programs and trainers, personalized matching through AI technology, a hub for trainers, and concierge services.
Reflecting on her own experiences, McCrary McGuire shared how her children navigated various basketball programs and teams, highlighting Cole Anthony's journey to the NBA. "The experience of unreliable coaches, disorganized teams, and unethical organizations should not hinder a child's growth," she added. "GameUp is born out of years of experience and trials, and our goal is to make this journey as fulfilling as possible for every young athlete out there."
The official launch event for GameUp, called "City Assist," will be held on Sept. 10, 2023, at the Police Athletic League (P.A.L.) of NYC. It aims to bring together basketball enthusiasts, families, and the community for a celebration of youth basketball, including skills clinics, games, and scholarship opportunities.
