SAVANNAH, Ga., May 31, 2023 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport is proud to announce its partnership with WHILL, a leading provider of personal transportation solutions, to introduce an innovative mobility service for passengers. The collaboration aims to enhance the airport experience for individuals with mobility limitations by offering the use of WHILL Model C2 power chairs. This service enables passengers to independently explore the terminal, including restaurants, shops, and restrooms, before making their way to their departure gate. Departing from the traditional practice of staff-pushed wheelchairs, this initiative empowers passengers with a new level of freedom and autonomy.
The WHILL power chairs are available free of charge and can be obtained at the Mobility Services counter on the Departure Level. Passengers can reserve a chair by notifying the airline of their need for wheelchair assistance during the flight booking process or by visiting the airline's check-in counter on the day of departure. With the user-friendly controls of the WHILL Model C2, passengers can confidently navigate the airport at their own pace. The service, which commenced in early May, currently features four power chairs dedicated to passenger transportation.
