LOS ANGELES, July 31, 2023 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - Southern California medical power couple, Dr. Vinson Eugene Allen and his wife Dr. Connie Yu Allen, have been recognized with the First Responders Award for their pivotal role during the Covid-19 pandemic. The award was presented to them at the EL Portal Theater in North Hollywood on July 1, 2023.

During the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, when testing kits were scarce, the Allens took proactive steps to address the crisis. Dr. Vinson Eugene Allen, in collaboration with his wife, launched Corona Virus Test Los Angeles and the Saint Vinson Eugene Allen Foundation. These organizations provided much-needed aid including food supplies, free medical testing, and transportation assistance to the residents of Los Angeles and Orange County.

Upon receiving the award, Dr. Vinson Eugene Allen expressed gratitude, stating, "I would like to thank the A Million Roses Foundation for providing an opportunity for the entire community, officials, and dignitaries to come together and express their appreciation for the remarkable contributions of all the honorees." He also recognized the support from California Assembly District 65 representative Mike Gipson.

Dr. Vinson Eugene Allen, trained in emergency medicine, owns the distinction of being the first African American to open a chain of urgent care facilities in California. Additionally, he made international headlines in 2022 for creating the tallest 3D-printed human sculpture. Dr. Connie Yu Allen, a Harbor UCLA graduate, family medicine physician, and educator, has been instrumental in promoting diversity in healthcare in Southern California.

Their philanthropic efforts extend beyond the pandemic response. In January 2023, the couple's Saint Vinson Eugene Allen Foundation launched the Hand-Up Award, a $50,000 initiative to assist families with special-needs children.
