TTUHSC El Paso Receives Historic $25 Million Gift from Fox Family for Comprehensive Cancer Center
EL PASO, Texas, August 16, 2023 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) and the Fox Family announced a significant $25 million investment that will support the creation of a comprehensive cancer center on the university's campus. Steve Fox, president and CEO of Fox Auto Team, and his wife, Nancy, are behind this historic gift, aiming to facilitate clinical trials, research, and recruitment of world-class professionals to the center. The center will be named the Steve and Nancy Fox Cancer Center in honor of the family's contribution.
Steve Fox, who battled stage 4 tongue and neck cancer over two decades ago, has been a relentless advocate for comprehensive cancer care in El Paso. "When you have the diagnosis of cancer, what you want is the best possible outcome, which is to be cured," Steve Fox said. "We're working on that with the new cancer center in El Paso, and I'm optimistic that we'll deliver world-class care." The center's construction was made possible earlier this year when the Texas legislature approved a $65 million appropriation. This center, focusing on the Hispanic population, which is projected to face a significant rise in cancer cases, will consolidate various cancer-related services and aims to increase Hispanic participation in cancer research and clinical trials.
TTUHSC El Paso President Richard Lange, M.D., M.B.A., expressed deep gratitude to the Fox family, stating, "I'm deeply grateful to Steve and Nancy Fox for transforming dreams into reality by helping to bring this cancer center to life. Together, we'll bring forth a brighter, healthier future for our community and beyond." To learn more about the cancer center and TTUHSC El Paso's initiatives, visit www.ttuhscepimpact.org.
