CLOVIS, Calif., March 27, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - The California Olive Oil Council (COOC) successfully hosted its 16th Annual Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition last weekend, marking the organization's first in-person Annual Member Meeting since 2019. The event, attended by industry leaders including UC Davis Olive Center Executive Director Javier Fernandez Salvador and President of the American Olive Oil Producers Association (AOOPA) Kimberly Houlding, focused on the latest developments in regulatory standards, research, marketing efforts, and the growth of California’s extra virgin olive oil industry.

The highlight of the meeting was the announcement of the winners in the COOC's 16th Annual Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition, which showcases the state's top olive oil producers and their products from the 2023 harvest season. The competition awarded Best of Show, Best in Class, Gold, and Silver medals to exceptional extra virgin olive oils across various categories.

Award Winners Announced:

  • Best of Show: The Ranch at Birch Creek: Italian Blend

  • Best in Class: Included winners like The Ranch at Birch Creek for Italian Blends and Marcum Olive Oil for Italian Single Varietal, among others.

  • Gold Medalists: Featured Basque Away, Calistoga Press, Enzo Olive Oil Co., and many others for their outstanding extra virgin olive oils.

  • Silver Medalists: Recognized brands such as Badass Olive Oil, Corto, and Dogtown Olive Oil for their high-quality products.
