Dr. Gregg Stefanek, Sr VP Nexus of Care

INDIANAPOLIS, June 21, 2023 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - Northwind Pharmaceuticals, a rapidly expanding provider of chronic care programs and health/pharmacy benefits on a national scale, has announced the appointment of Dr. Gregg Stefanek as the Senior Vice President of Nexus of Care.

The healthcare industry is currently at a critical juncture, facing challenges such as escalating costs, limited access, quality concerns, and widespread frustration. As a result, self-funded employers are turning to innovative solutions like Northwind to address these issues effectively.

Phillip Berry, CEO of Northwind, commented on the appointment, stating, "Gregg gets it. Years of experience as a primary care physician and his role as Medical Director leading multiple health centers for a Fortune 50 company have given him clear insight into the challenges and opportunities within our healthcare system. Gregg knows what needs to happen to improve individual health while helping the self-funded employer influence healthcare spend and steward total population health."

Dr. Gregg Stefanek, DO, BBA, began his career with an accounting degree from the University of Notre Dame before pursuing a calling in medicine. He holds a Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from Michigan State and boasts over 30 years of experience in direct patient care across various fields of Family Medicine. With expertise in healthcare delivery at local, state, and national levels, Dr. Stefanek led his privately-owned practice through a cultural transformation in the Patient-Centered Medical Home model of care. He subsequently transitioned to a fully-owned hospital system practice and most recently served as a Family Physician & Medical Director for a Fortune 50 company, overseeing on-site medical centers across multiple states. His role at Northwind will involve assisting self-funded plan sponsors in establishing a Nexus of CareTM to optimize costs and outcomes for plan members.

Reflecting on the state of the medical system, Dr. Stefanek remarked, "Some think our medical system is broken, but it is perfectly designed to get the results it gets. We have an expensive, inefficient system resulting in undesirable outcomes that rewards doing things to patients or for them but not with them. More effort is placed in trying to grab a piece of the healthcare pie than is spent in helping people navigate our complex system as they try to take care of themselves. Well-being is not a catchphrase for me. Helping people feel better about themselves to live the life they want to live is a passion and a lifelong goal. I am excited to join Northwind and explore the opportunity that lies ahead."

Northwind offers a comprehensive national health and pharmacy services platform that integrates drug distribution logistics, home delivery pharmacy services, analytics, health and pharmacy benefits management, Clinical BlueprintsTM, and RxStewardTM software. These solutions enable self-funded employers to establish a Nexus of CareTM, effectively influencing healthcare costs and outcomes for their plan members.
