Judge Gayl Branum Carr Assumes Presidency of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges

BALTIMORE, July 25, 2023 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - Judge Gayl Branum Carr was sworn in as president of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ) on July 18, 2023. The ceremony took place during the organization's 86th Annual Conference in Baltimore. In the upcoming year, Judge Carr will lead the NCJFCJ, the country's oldest and largest judicial membership and education organization.

An experienced judge, Carr has served on the Fairfax Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court in Virginia's 19th Judicial District since 1994 and was elected chief judge in 2004. She has been on the NCJFCJ Board of Directors since 2019 and has contributed to multiple NCJFCJ committees. As well as her work in the courts, Judge Carr has mentored newly elected Virginia judges and contributed to academic institutions as an adjunct faculty member.

Judge Carr, recognized for her outstanding contributions, was recently inducted into the Virginia Lawyers Hall of Fame. She holds a bachelor's degree in social work from Virginia Commonwealth University and a law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law.
