Juneteenth Foundation to Host 4th Annual Juneteenth Honors Festival in Washington, DC
WASHINGTON, June 13, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) – The National Juneteenth Foundation will hold its 4th annual Juneteenth Honors Festival on June 14 in Washington, DC. The event is designed to celebrate Black culture and recognize significant contributions by Black Americans in various professional fields. This year's festival will feature musical performances and honor several prominent individuals.
The Juneteenth Honors Festival has previously attracted notable performers and honorees, including Ashanti, Lalah Hathaway, Maxwell, and TI. Past honorees have included Cathy Hughes, Tamika Mallory, Herbie Hancock, and Congresswoman Maxine Waters.
This year, the festival will showcase TinyDesk-style musical performances, with headliner Musiq Soulchild, recording artist Maysa, and the Howard Gospel Choir. The 2024 honorees include Dr. Clarence B. Jones, a Presidential Lifetime Achievement award recipient and former attorney and speechwriter for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., along with other distinguished individuals.
The event will take place at the Eaton Hotel, located at 1201 K Street NW, Washington, DC, starting with a VIP reception at 5:00 PM, followed by the Honors Fest program from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. The program will be recorded and broadcast on Fuse TV on June 19, the federally recognized Juneteenth holiday.
The Juneteenth Foundation has collaborated with educational institutions and corporate sponsors, such as General Motors, Santander Bank, and T-Mobile, to award over $100,000 in scholarships to 20 students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) this year.
