The Anointed Bible Video Game Receives Significant Update
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., June 11, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - The Foundation for Intelligent Media & Design (IMD Interactive), a non-profit Bible video game publisher, has released a major update for the demo of its upcoming game, The Anointed. The updated demo is now available on Steam and includes several enhancements aimed at improving the user experience.
The update for The Anointed involves a migration to Unreal Engine 5.3, offering improved graphics and performance. It also adds support for game controllers and compatibility with Steam Deck, expanding the accessibility of the game. The demo, titled David Saves Keilah, serves as a smaller version of the full game, The Anointed: Heart of David, which will explore the life of the biblical figure David from his time as a shepherd to his reign as king of Judah.
Drayton Cosby, Chief Executive Officer of IMD, emphasized the organization’s commitment to the project, stating, “We continue to prioritize gameplay so the players, parents and churches we seek to serve can see this miracle is real. We fight every day to point the people we love to the Word of God because finding Jesus Christ can change their life.”
IMD's Chief Operating Officer, Carlo Romano, noted the company's focus on gameplay improvement from the outset. “We still have a lot of work ahead, but we are showing the world that a small Bible game studio is not giving up on its dream,” said Romano. “We keep pressing forward because the Bible stories are too important not to tell.”
Matt Clark, Chief Technology Officer at IMD, highlighted the benefits of the new engine, explaining, “Taking The Anointed from Unreal 4.27 to 5.3 was necessary for the future of Anointed Games. In addition to having better rendering, worldbuilding, animation and modeling, we believe it's important to enhance technology to tell the story through Heart of David and future projects.”
Rev. David Ely, IMD’s Director of Ministry, spoke about the new accessibility features, particularly for ministry and outreach purposes. “We are excited to make the game accessible to people who prefer using controllers,” Ely said. “We continue to see partnerships in ministry grow, and having controller support with Steam Deck compatibility allows us to take King David’s story to harder-to-reach places.”
The demo, David Saves Keilah, has already been installed on over 40,000 personal computers in more than 130 countries, demonstrating significant interest and engagement with minimal marketing efforts.
IMD Interactive focuses on publishing video games that shift attention from traditional media to Bible-based content.
