LakePoint Sports Enhances Guest Experience Amid Industry Growth

ATLANTA, July 11, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) – LakePoint Sports, a travel and youth sports facilty, has introduced several initiatives and partnerships to align with the rapid growth in the sports tourism industry.

According to the 2024 Sports Events and Tourism Association (Sports ETA) Annual Report, the sports tourism sector reached $52.2 billion in direct spending in 2023, contributing a total economic impact of $128 billion. John David, President and CEO of Sports ETA, stated, “Sports Tourism is a massive industry, growing exponentially, impacting local communities and state economies.” The report indicates that the industry supports over 750,000 jobs and contributes $20.1 billion in taxes.

LakePoint Sports has seen this growth reflected on its 1,300-acre campus. Dean Keener, Senior Vice President of LakePoint Sports, reported, “Over the past five years LakePoint’s top-line revenue has grown +149% and Operating EBITDA is +234%.” Keener added, “2024 is proving to be another incredible year with new initiatives and events already making an impact.”

The 2024 Sports and Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) Annual Topline Participation Report noted an increase in sports participation across major categories in 2023. This includes baseball (7.6% increase), basketball (5.6%), cheerleading (8.3%), football 7v7 (9.1%), gymnastics (4.1%), lacrosse (5.5%), outdoor soccer (8.1%), and court volleyball (13.4%).

LakePoint Sports maintains a 90% retention rate for events and programs, driven by the same sports seeing national growth. “We continue to pursue opportunities to elevate the experience for the tournaments, showcases, camps, clinics and special events for the sports that are also growing nationally,” said Keener.

LakePoint Sports has initiated several improvements, including re-turfing baseball fields, refurbishing hardwood at the Champions Center, and adding new features to the multi-purpose field complex. Josh Laney, Co-Team Lead for Guest Experience, stated, “Everyday the LakePoint Team is focused on delivering excellence in the guest experience, by sport, event and venue.”

The campus also benefits from over sixty corporate partnerships and a robust media presence. LakePoint Live, powered by Pixellot, will broadcast over thirty games in 2024. Greg Barckhoff, Senior Vice President of Partnerships and Marketing, commented, “Brands like Yanmar, Coca-Cola, Audi, Body Armor, Rawlings, and Baseballism have embraced the LakePoint Sports partnership platform to engage our shared customers.”

Real estate development around the campus is also expanding. The new Element Hotel by Westin is set to open this fall, contributing to the growth in Bartow County. Nim Patel, President and CEO of Horizon Hospitality, stated, “Our new Element Hotel will create a new standard for the millions of LakePoint Sports guests visiting campus annually.”
