MTM Transit Secures 10-Year Contract with CapMetro in Austin
AUSTIN, Texas, August 16, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) – MTM Transit has been awarded a new 10-year contract with the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority (CapMetro) in Austin, Texas. The contract, valued at $736 million, will see MTM Transit continue its role in operating CapMetro's paratransit service and the CapMetro Pickup on-demand microtransit program, starting January 1, 2025.
MTM Transit has been a service provider for CapMetro since 2014, delivering transportation to Austin passengers through its CapMetro Access paratransit program. Since 2019, MTM Transit has also managed the Pickup program, an on-demand microtransit service. The company's team in Austin, comprising more than 480 local employees, has been central to these operations.

The company’s fleet has expanded from 45 minivans to 255 vehicles. Additionally, MTM Transit and CapMetro recently marked a significant milestone by celebrating the one millionth Pickup passenger.
MTM Transit has also played an active role in supporting the Austin community. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the company partnered with CapMetro to deliver over one million meals to residents in need. Furthermore, during the February 2021 ice storm, MTM Transit provided essential services such as water delivery and emergency transportation. The company has also contributed to the community through initiatives like the Mobile Hot Spot Program, which provided internet access to underserved areas during the pandemic.
