Serve2Sustain Promotes Tennis Ball Recycling to Foster Environmental Sustainability
NEW YORK, June 20, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - Serve2Sustain, a non-profit organization founded by high school students Shreyas Gorre and Ari Fayne, has launched a new initiative to recycle used tennis balls, transforming them into new tennis courts. The organization has recycled over 110,000 tennis balls from 11 tennis clubs across seven states in the past seven months, aligning with its mission to promote sustainability in the tennis community.
The concept for Serve2Sustain was conceived at the Wharton Global Youth Program for Entrepreneurship in 2023. Gorre and Fayne, both dedicated tennis players, realized the need for a sustainable solution for used tennis balls during their practice sessions. This led to the creation of Serve2Sustain, focusing on collecting and recycling tennis balls to reduce waste and support the development of new tennis courts through partnerships with RecycleBalls and Laykold.
The organization operates on a chapter model, with each chapter autonomously managing the recycling efforts within their local tennis clubs. These chapters handle communication with the clubs, collection of used balls, and the logistics of shipping them to recycling partners. Serve2Sustain has successfully raised over $12,000 to support its initiatives, demonstrating its rapid growth and impact in promoting eco-friendly practices in sports.
For those interested in starting a chapter or supporting Serve2Sustain’s mission, the organization encourages reaching out through their website. Donations are accepted to help cover the costs of recycling, and all contributions are tax-deductible through their 501(c)(3) status. For more information, visit www.serve2sustain.org.
