ControlMonkey Hosts Conference on OpenTofu in Tel Aviv
TEL AVIV, Israel, February 23, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - The DevOps community in Tel Aviv recently convened at a significant event hosted by ControlMonkey, focusing on OpenTofu, the newly available open-source Infrastructure as Code (IaC) framework. This conference, held at AWS Floor 28, marked the first European gathering dedicated to discussing OpenTofu, attracting 100 professionals from the local DevOps sector according to a recent press release.
OpenTofu was developed as a community-driven alternative to Terraform, following HashiCorp's adjustments to Terraform's licensing. Managed by the Linux Foundation, OpenTofu aims to provide a new option within the IaC ecosystem, emphasizing open-source principles and community involvement.
The event featured a key session titled "Deep Dive Analysis," where Ori Yemini, the CTO & Co-Founder of ControlMonkey, explored the critical considerations for DevOps teams contemplating a switch from Terraform to OpenTofu. This session aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the technical and commercial implications of adopting OpenTofu, highlighting its support from the Linux Foundation and the flexibility it offers compared to Terraform's source-available framework.
Additionally, the conference included an Expert Panel with some of Israel's top DevOps leaders, who shared their strategies and experiences in managing large-scale cloud environments using IaC. This panel offered valuable insights into overcoming common challenges such as Terraform Drifts, reducing friction with R&D teams, and correcting production misconfigurations.
ControlMonkey, a supporter of OpenTofu, organized the conference to educate and inform the DevOps community about the advantages and potential of OpenTofu for cloud deployments. The event also saw participation from members of OpenTofu's founding team (from env0), who engaged with attendees and contributed to the discussions on the future of IaC.
