CHICAGO, February 17, 2025 (VSNewsNetwork.com) – The American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (ASTCT) has announced the appointment of David L. Porter, MD, as president for the 2025-2026 term. Porter succeeds Corey Cutler, MD, MPH, and will lead the Society in advancing research and clinical care in transplantation and cellular therapy.
Porter serves as the Jodi Fisher-Horowitz Professor of Leukemia Care Excellence at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and Abramson Cancer Center. He is also the Executive Director of the Center for Cell Therapy and Transplant at Penn Medicine. His work in hematologic malignancies, stem cell transplantation, and CAR T-cell therapy has contributed to advancements in the field.

Porter has been involved with ASTCT in several leadership capacities, including serving as President-elect and Deputy Editor of the Society’s journal, Transplantation and Cellular Therapy. His contributions extend to other organizations, including serving as Chair of the Board of Directors for NMDP and leadership roles with the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cell Therapy, the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer, and the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research.
Porter’s research focuses on developing cellular therapy and stem cell transplantation strategies, with work instrumental in CAR T-cell therapy for cancer treatment. He has contributed to over 250 published research and review articles.
