JAKARTA, Indonesia, October 20, 2023 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - Ganjar Pranowo, the former governor of Central Java, and his Vice President running mate, Mahfud MD, officially registered their candidacy for Indonesia's presidential election at the country's election commission on Thursday. The event saw tens of thousands of supporters in attendance, signaling robust backing for the duo from the ruling Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).

Ganjar Pranowo, whose second term as governor ended last month, is widely considered a leading contender in the presidential race scheduled for February. Mahfud described Ganjar as a "popular and brave leader" who is not afraid to "correct wrongdoings" and "fight for political values that he believes in." The Vice Presidential candidate's nomination was announced by Megawati Soekarnoputri, the chairwoman of PDI-P, who said, "The pairing of Mr. Ganjar and Mr. Mahfud will enrich this country's democracy."
