MINNEAPOLIS, December 21, 2023 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - Mpact, a national nonprofit organization focusing on transit-oriented communities, has appointed Grace Crunican as its interim CEO effective January 1, 2024, as announced by the organization's Board of Directors. The move comes as Tamar Shapiro steps down to pursue other interests. Mpact, originally known as Rail~Volution, has been influential in advocating for transit-oriented communities for over three decades.

Diana Mendes, President of the Mpact Board, stated, "We are grateful for Tamar’s leadership and her contributions to position Mpact for a bright future. I am thrilled that Grace, a leader in our industry, will be interim CEO in this next period." Crunican's appointment is seen as a strategic decision to maintain the organization's momentum and drive its mission forward.

Crunican herself, with a distinguished career spanning over four decades in various transportation leadership roles, expressed her dedication to Mpact's mission, "I’ve been involved with this organization from the beginning and am dedicated to keeping momentum for its mission." Her extensive experience includes leadership positions at BART, the Seattle Department of Transportation, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

As Mpact enters this transitional phase, the Board has initiated a national search for a permanent CEO, partnering with Harris Rand Lusk (HRL), an executive search firm, to identify suitable candidates for the role.
