Ascent Classical Academies Appoints Anna Unversaw as Headmaster of New Irmo Campus
IRMO, S.C., February 16, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - Ascent Classical Academies (ACA) has named Anna Unversaw as the first Headmaster of its new campus in Irmo, South Carolina, set to open in the fall of 2024. According to a recent press release, this marks a significant step in ACA's expansion, with the Irmo campus being one of the first two ACA schools to launch in South Carolina, following the network's establishment and growth in Golden, Colorado.
Anna Unversaw, who has over six years of experience as a head of school and an additional seven years in various educational roles, joins ACA from Lexington-Richland School District 5 in Irmo, where she served as a program lead. Her background also includes leadership and management positions, such as grant coordination for East Tennessee State University.
Matthew Vlahovich, Ascent Classical Academies Chief of Schools, expressed confidence in Unversaw's appointment, stating, "We are excited for someone with local experience and knowledge to lead our Irmo campus. Unversaw, a Columbia native, holds three degrees from the University of South Carolina, encompassing government and international relations, mass communications, and educational leadership.
The Ascent Classical Academy of Irmo aims to offer a classical, content-rich education in the liberal arts and sciences to students in grades K-8 during its inaugural year. The school emphasizes moral character, civic virtue, and a disciplined environment. It is strategically located on Koon Road, between I-26 and US-176, to serve the Irmo/Chapin communities.
