Carolyn Rogers, a former IBM technology professional and producer of the 2017 Discovery Channel documentary "This is AI," along with Mark Soares, Founder and CEO of Blokhaus Inc., are leading the production. Chris Hershman, known for his work with top music acts and tech industry commercials, directs the documentary.

Rogers articulated the documentary's mission, stating, "A key goal of 'Awakening the Machine' is to offer the public an in-depth understanding of the implications of AI – not only the future risks but also the very real issues it is creating today. We are technologists who believe in the potential of AI, but also want to foster a discussion about what it means to develop it responsibly."

The documentary, in collaboration with Room 608, aims to be a seminal work on AI, featuring interviews with notable figures such as Dan Hendrycks, Director of the Center for AI Safety; Max Tegmark, MIT professor and AI researcher; Tim Urban, writer and blogger; and Jaan Tallinn, Skype co-founder and tech investor.

With the goal of fostering a balanced discourse on AI's potential and pitfalls, "Awakening the Machine: The AI Revolution" seeks to address critical questions about human agency in the age of machines.
