Broward Republican State Committeeman, Richard DeNapoli Cleared of Voter Fraud Allegations
LAUDERDALE-BY-THE-SEA, Fla., February 12, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - Richard DeNapoli, Chief Trust Officer & Fiduciary Counsel of a Florida Based Trust Company, has been officially cleared of voter fraud allegations by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Florida Bar, and the Florida Elections Commission; following accusations related to the 2014 elections.
DeNapoli faced allegations from a Florida blogger who claimed that DeNapoli had voted twice in the 2014 elections. These complaints were investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Florida Bar, and the Florida Elections Commission, all of which dismissed the accusations. Furthermore, after an attempt to reopen the case, the Florida Bar dismissed the allegations again.
In a legal victory for DeNapoli, a judge from the 12th Judicial Circuit, in February 2021, ruled in his favor, ordering the accuser to pay $25,000 for violating a settlement agreement. Additionally, in a separate case, the Florida Elections Commission found that claims made by a political opponent against DeNapoli violated Florida Statutes, resulting in a civil penalty of $5,000 being imposed on the opponent.
DeNapoli commented on the outcomes, stating, "I have been cleared of all allegations against me, though allegations often get more attention than vindication. While not a litigious person, I have been forced to defend my good reputation. While I am a firm believer in free speech and have a very thick skin, defamation laws exist to protect people whose careers, reputations, and finances have been damaged by untrue, harmful statements. While very difficult to win a defamation case as an elected official and public figure, a court judgment and fine have in fact been assessed against those accusing me. The results are clear: I won a $25,000 judgment against one accuser and the Florida Elections Commission imposed a $5,000 fine against a separate political opponent."
