JENBACH, Austria, October 12, 2023 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - INNIO Group has been awarded the “H2-Readiness” certification by TÜV SÜD for its Jenbacher Type 4 and 6 hydrogen product line, signifying the firm's dedication towards a clean energy transition. This certification pertains to INNIO’s power plant concept that is designed to operate entirely on hydrogen.

“The independent certification from TÜV SÜD provides even more investment security for companies and municipalities,” stated Dr. Andreas Kunz, chief technology officer of the INNIO Group. The certification emphasizes the capacity of INNIO's concept to retrofit existing Jenbacher power plants to utilize hydrogen and design new hydrogen-ready plants, emphasizing their potential role in a sustainable energy landscape.

Elaborating on the significance of this certification, Ferdinand Neuwieser, CEO of TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH, mentioned, “Our ‘H2-Readiness’ certification guideline enables engine manufacturers, plant operators, and insurers to apply a standardized and transparent evaluation framework.”

The TÜV SÜD certification process for “H2-Ready” engine power plants is comprehensive, consisting of three stages: a Concept Certification during the bidding phase, a Project Certificate during the implementation of a specific initiative, and a Transition Certificate for the conversion of existing plants. INNIO is the inaugural company globally to acquire the Concept Certificate.

INNIO has long been at the forefront of hydrogen technology and is set to launch its entire Jenbacher product line for 100% hydrogen operation by 2025, addressing the need for stable energy systems amidst growing reliance on renewable sources.
