The SOAR Texas Scholarship, totaling $100,000 annually, will be awarded to 20 exceptional female students. The program specifically targets women who are the first in their families to attend college or who have overcome significant challenges. The application process for the 2024 SOAR Scholars is currently open, with the deadline set for April 15, 2024. Selected recipients will be announced and celebrated at the LOAR Texas Summer Celebration on June 8, 2024.

In addition to the scholarship, recipients will have access to ongoing educational and professional development opportunities, as well as mentoring. This holistic approach aims to foster a supportive network for these women throughout their educational journey.

Marie Valles, a SOAR Scholar from the University of Texas, shared her personal experience with the program. “The SOAR program has allowed me to grow my network and support system in ways I never thought to be possible,” she said.

Arielle Allen, a SOAR Scholar at the University of Texas Law School, spoke about the financial impact of the scholarship. “The SOAR scholarship funds I received are invaluable contributions to my ability to participate fully in the law school experience,” Allen noted, highlighting the scholarship’s role in her academic and extracurricular activities.

Lisa Lozano, a doctoral candidate at Texas A&M University and also a SOAR Scholar, shared her gratitude for the program. “The award has granted me financial stability, and in turn, allowed me to focus more on studying and building my therapeutic skills,” Lozano said. She appreciated the comprehensive support from the SOAR team, especially significant for her as a first-generation student.

LOAR PLLC, recognized for its rapid growth and commitment to empowering women in education, established the SOAR Texas scholarship to support aspiring first-generation female college students. Detailed information about previous scholarship recipients is available on the SOAR Scholars website.
