MARCH Foundation Donates $100K to ECSU's Aviation Program
ELIZABETH CITY, N.C., March 14, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - The MARCH Foundation has made a $100,000 donation to Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) to support its aviation program, aiming to foster the next generation of aviation professionals. During a visit to the university, Eric Leufroy, a board member of the foundation and a retired UPS executive, highlighted the significance of their contribution.
"We're excited to continue supporting innovation at ECSU where the next generation of pilots and aviation leaders are pursuing their dreams,” Leufroy stated.
Founded by Kenneth B. Jarvis and fellow African American UPS executives, the MARCH Foundation focuses on the educational advancement of African American youth. ECSU Chancellor Karrie G. Dixon, Ph.D., underscored the impact of the foundation's support, saying, “Partners like the MARCH Foundation dramatically enhance ECSU’s ability to attract and retain talent that fuels the aviation industry.”
ECSU stands out as the only Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in North Carolina offering a four-year aviation education program.
The visit also provided an opportunity for ECSU students to gain insights from MARCH board members, including Sean Horton, a UPS Airlines pilot, who emphasized the value of continuous learning and effective leadership in aviation. "It was a privilege to spend a day with literal [UPS] living legends and pioneers of our industry," said Horton.
