PANAMA CITY, October 4, 2023 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - In a move to strengthen the educational framework of San Miguelito, the Metropolitan School of Panama (MET) teamed up with the Leadership Program for School Directors in the region last Wednesday. MET, a member of the prestigious Nord Anglia Education network, hosted a workshop titled "Digital Tools for Teaching" on its premium campus. The event witnessed a participation of 45 educators, including school directors and teacher leaders.

The session aimed to equip attendees with insights into the realm of digital education. They delved into the intricacies of technology and the advantages of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) approach in contemporary learning.

"Engaging with the visiting educators and sharing our insights and experiences has resulted in mutual enrichment for all involved," commented Indira Acosta, Academic Director of the Metropolitan School of Panama.

Topics highlighted during the workshop included:

  • Understanding Education 4.0

  • Fostering a Digital Mindset

  • Utilizing Open Educational Resources for technological access

  • The rise of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Augmented Reality in learning

  • Implementing Digital Tools in Spanish Language Education

  • Exploring Online Libraries and Educational Gaming

In addition to providing theoretical knowledge, the workshop underscored the practical advantages of the STEAM approach, such as the application of the scientific method and the utilization of simulations in teaching.

Furthering their commitment to technological education, MET granted iPads to school directors to facilitate enhanced digital learning experiences in their respective schools.

Since its inception in 2010, the program, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by the Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture of Panama (AmCham), in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of Education of San Miguelito of the Ministry of Education of Panama (MEDUCA), has consistently focused on upskilling educational leaders in the region.
