SAN FRANCISCO, March 27, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - The Tokyo Metropolitan Government, in collaboration with Startup Genome, has initiated the Global Hypergrowth Tokyo program, aimed at accelerating the international growth of Tokyo-based tech companies. The program, which commenced its first cohort on March 26, 2024, seeks to address the challenges faced by rapidly growing startups in scaling and entering global markets.

Chieto Misumi, Director of the New Ventures Support Section at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's Commerce and Industry Division Bureau of Industrial and Labor Affairs, emphasized the program's objectives, stating, "We are very pleased to announce the launch of Startup Genome's Global Hypergrowth Tokyo Program as one of the projects under this agreement. This program will connect participating startups with mentors and advisors overseas and provide them with regular advice to accelerate their entry and development in the global market, including the US and European markets."

The Global Hypergrowth Tokyo program is designed to fill the support gap for scaleups by offering access to global mentors, expert scaling advice, and connections to potential new customers and investors. It targets 22 companies from Tokyo, focusing on sectors such as deep tech, healthtech, and AI. These companies have collectively raised close to $100 million in funding and are looking to expand their customer base internationally.

The initiative aligns with Tokyo's 'Global Innovation with STARTUPS' goal of increasing the number of unicorns, startups, and collaborative projects with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. By facilitating access to international networks and expertise, the program aims to enhance the global competitiveness of Tokyo's tech ecosystem.
