External Affairs Minister Dr. Jaishankar Discusses India's Future with Diaspora in Singapore

SINGAPORE, March 25, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - During a three-hour session at the Quantum Arena of One World International School Campus, India's External Affairs Minister, Dr. S Jaishankar, engaged in a comprehensive dialogue with the Indian diaspora and students from the Global Schools Group. This event took place on Sunday as part of his three-day visit to Singapore, which coincides with his book tour for "Why Bharat Matters."

Dr. Jaishankar's dialogue covered a broad spectrum of topics, from India's economic milestones to its relationship with the global Indian community and its sustainability goals. He emphasized the nation's recovery and growth post-pandemic, stating, “India’s bounce back from the pandemic has been remarkable, showcasing its economic prowess and societal resilience." He further elaborated on India's strategic moves towards a brighter future, saying, "We have streamlined business regulations, invested in rural infrastructure, and embraced digitization, laying the foundation for a prosperous future."

The session also allowed for an interactive Q&A with students from OWIS and GIIS, alongside audience members, where Dr. Jaishankar adeptly addressed a variety of inquiries.

The event attracted a diverse group of attendees, including business professionals, students, educators, and members of the Indian community in Singapore, and commenced with a traditional 'Ganesh Vandana,' performed by GIIS students.

A highlight of the gathering was the presentation of a 20-minute documentary on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, underscoring his connections with Singapore. Reflecting on Netaji's legacy, Dr. Jaishankar remarked, “Netaji remains a beacon of inspiration for our nation, guiding us through our journey of progress and development. As we celebrate India's rise on the global stage, it is essential to pay homage to the struggles that paved the way for our success.”

Dr. Jaishankar also stressed the importance of investing in India's human capital for sustained growth and development. "Our roots define who we are as a nation, and it is essential to nurture and cherish them. By investing in our people and fostering prosperity, we lay the groundwork for a more inclusive and sustainable future."

His visit to Singapore also included a meeting with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and a lecture at the Institute of South Asian Studies, marking his inaugural visit to the Global Village Campus and his third to the Global Indian International School.
