SCHENECTADY, N.Y., March 21, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - A Kickstarter campaign titled Darrell Vernum Lost Records has been initiated by Richard Allen, owner of thatsafact.com, with the goal of saving the life's work of Darrell Vernum, an artist from Schenectady, NY, and later Austin, TX. The campaign aims to prevent Vernum's extensive archive of music, writings, and visual art from being permanently lost online. More details about the campaign can be found at Kickstarter.

Darrell Vernum, who passed away in December 2020 in Austin, TX, was an active musician, teacher, and archivist of his own work. His digital archive, which faces imminent deletion due to inactivity, includes a wide range of materials from live and studio recordings to theoretical writings on music. A cloud storage company, where much of Vernum's work is archived, has agreed to assist in the recovery of these files, contingent upon obtaining a legal writ as per their policy for accessing data of deceased individuals.

Richard Allen, a close collaborator of Vernum for nearly three decades, has taken on the responsibility of preserving Vernum's legacy. Allen's connection to Vernum extends beyond their musical collaborations, as thatsafact.com hosted the first webpage for Vernum's Daring Ventures Multimedia company. Following the death of Vernum's father and sole heir, Walter Vernum, in August 2022, the urgency to secure and archive Darrell's work has intensified.

The Kickstarter campaign, Darrell Vernum Lost Records, features a video detailing the significance of Vernum's work and the efforts to save it. Supporters are encouraged to become backers to ensure that Vernum's contributions to music and art can be shared with the world.

Visual works by Darrell Vernum, including sketches, paintings, and photography, are currently on display at The Moon & River Cafe in Schenectady, NY, until the end of March.
