KITCHENER, Ontario, April 9, 2025 (VSNewsNetwork.com) — Communitech, a nonprofit organization that helps Canadian tech companies grow through business support, mentorship, and access to funding, has announced the appointment of Sheldon McCormick as Chief Executive Officer, effective April 14.

McCormick is an entrepreneur and business executive who has held prior roles focused on company growth, fundraising, and technology sector operations. He co-founded Properly, a real estate technology firm, where he served as Chief Operating Officer. He also worked with Uber Canada during its early expansion phase.

"I'm honoured to join Communitech at such an important time for the tech industry. As a founder, I know how important it is to have trusted partners in your corner. I'm looking forward to working with this talented team and community to take on challenges, explore new ideas and stay ahead of what founders need most," said McCormick.

McCormick was selected following a leadership search led by Communitech’s board of directors and the executive search firm Korn Ferry.

Jennifer Gruber, who served as interim CEO during the transition, will resume her role as Chief Financial Officer.

Communitech is a nonprofit organization based in Waterloo Region, Ontario, that provides support to technology companies and entrepreneurs. Its services include access to capital, mentorship, partnerships, and community programs aimed at helping startups scale.
