BOSTON, September 16, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) – Litum, a provider of Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS), has announced the launch of its Infant Security RTLS, a solution aimed at improving the safety and security of newborns in healthcare facilities. The system features the "Little Tag," a small, wearable device for infants that helps prevent mismatches and unauthorized removals from hospital units.

The "Little Tag" is paired with corresponding tags worn by the infant's mother and authorized hospital staff, ensuring that only approved personnel can move infants between different areas of the hospital. The system continuously monitors infant movements and includes strict discharge protocols, reducing the risk of abductions and accidental mismatches. The device is designed to provide comprehensive coverage and security for hospitals and families.

According to Litum, the "Little Tag" is a lightweight, hypoallergenic device, approximately the size of a half-dollar coin. It integrates with Litum’s RTLS platform, which utilizes Ultra-Wideband (UWB) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technologies to offer precise location tracking with sub-meter accuracy. This accuracy is crucial for quickly detecting unauthorized movements or abductions.

Ozgur Ulku, CEO of Litum, described the importance of the solution, stating, "Our location-based solution with the new ‘Little Tag’ is a game-changer for safeguarding infants in hospitals. It enhances safety while integrating effortlessly into current hospital systems, making it the most effective and reliable solution available."

The Infant Security RTLS is compatible with the LenelS2™ OnGuard® access control system, enabling it to integrate with existing hospital security systems. It is also scalable, allowing hospitals to expand the system to include additional safety measures, such as staff duress alarms and patient flow management. The solution is available as a subscription-based service, offering flexibility in deployment and continuous support for healthcare facilities.
