JACKSON, Miss., September 9, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) – Phi Theta Kappa has launched a new statewide awareness campaign in Missouri through its CCsmart initiative, aimed at promoting community colleges as a smart educational option for students. The campaign is designed to highlight the benefits of community colleges, such as affordability, accessibility, and quality education, and is supported by a grant from the Lumina Foundation.

According to Lumina Foundation’s research, 50% of working-age adults in Missouri currently hold some form of college degree or workforce credential. The Missouri Department of Higher Education has set a goal, supported by Lumina, to increase that number to 60% by 2025.

“CCsmart lets Missouri’s communities know what we've known for a long time: community colleges are more than just accessible and affordable—they offer a quality education,” said Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, President and CEO of Phi Theta Kappa.

The six-week digital campaign will target students, parents, and young adults who have not yet attended college, promoting community colleges as a valuable educational option. The campaign is expected to reach over 1.5 million people through social media and create more than 8 million impressions across multiple media channels.

To support the campaign, CCsmart has provided training for Missouri college presidents and media specialists, as well as a toolkit for social media use. The campaign materials are designed to be easily shared or co-branded by colleges across the state.

Brian Millner, President and CEO of the Missouri Community College Association, stated, "The CCsmart campaign drives home the message that choosing a community college isn't just a viable option, but it's the smart choice for anyone looking to achieve their academic and career goals."

CCsmart, a subsidiary of Phi Theta Kappa, serves as a resource to guide students and parents in making informed decisions about educational paths through community colleges. Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society, supports the academic success and leadership growth of college students.
