CHARLOTTE, N.C., November 1, 2023 (VSNewsNetwork.com) – Samaritan’s Feet International, a humanitarian aid organization, celebrated a significant milestone by distributing its 10 millionth pair of shoes since its inception. This event marked two decades of the nonprofit's global effort to provide footwear to underprivileged communities. The distribution took place at Woodville Primary School in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town, South Africa – the same location where the organization's first distribution occurred.

The recipient of the milestone pair of shoes was Zaiden, a 10-year-old boy praised for his academic performance and assistance to peers with mathematics. His achievement was commemorated not only with new athletic shoes but also with the support of his education and mentorship to bolster his future endeavors.

During the event, Samaritan’s Feet founders Manny and Tracie Ohonme, along with a team of U.S. and local volunteers, served approximately 1,000 students by providing them with new athletic shoes and personal attention. This gesture extended beyond footwear, fostering a sense of care and community. Over the span of a week, a total of 2,000 individuals across the Western Cape received support from Samaritan’s Feet South Africa, reflecting the organization’s ongoing commitment to outreach.

Samaritan's Feet's connections to Africa are deeply rooted, as co-founder Manny Ohonme received his first pair of shoes in Lagos, Nigeria, over four decades ago. Since their first distribution, the organization has expanded its impact across the African continent. Further cementing their dedication, World Shoe, helmed by Manny, announced the launch of a factory in Ghana earlier this month to produce sustainable, antimicrobial footwear – a first of its kind in Africa.

Samaritan's Feet continues its service both internationally and in the United States, with a recent contribution of approximately 500 pairs of shoes to a Salvation Army partner in the Charlotte area, demonstrating a sustained commitment to humanitarian aid both abroad and at home.
