Christopher Gorayeb Advocates for Diversity and Inclusion at Bates College
NEW YORK, May 9, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - Christopher Gorayeb, a Bates College alumnus and the founder of Gorayeb & Associates, has initiated several key programs aimed at supporting equity and diversity at his alma mater, particularly benefiting marginalized and undocumented students.
Since his graduation in 1980 and during his tenure on the college’s board of trustees, Gorayeb has been instrumental in developing initiatives that address systemic barriers in education. In 2017, he founded The Gorayeb Family Fund for Equity and Diversity, which provides funding for diversity-related programs and events at Bates College. This includes initiatives such as supplying winter clothing for students who may need them and establishing a space on campus dedicated to marginalized students, offering them access to various resources.
Further expanding his commitment, Gorayeb played a significant role in supporting The Schuler Access Initiative, launched in 2021. This program focuses on increasing financial aid for Pell-eligible, low-income, and undocumented students at Bates, with contributions from Bates donors, including Gorayeb, significantly enhancing the initiative's impact by adding $70 million to the college’s financial aid funds.
Gorayeb's philanthropic endeavors align with his professional pursuits at Gorayeb & Associates, where the firm is known for its advocacy for construction accident victims and its commitment to justice and community support.
