LOS ANGELES, May 10, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - Iris Indie International has acquired the international sales rights to "Ganymede," an award-winning Southern gothic thriller, as it expands its role in global film distribution. The company plans to showcase the film at the Cannes Film Festival with a market screening on Wednesday, May 15, at Palais C, at noon.

Directed by Colby Holt and Sam Probst, "Ganymede" explores the challenging themes of identity, sexuality, and supernatural influences. The story follows Lee Fletcher IV, a high school athlete in the rural South, as he grapples with family dynamics and his emerging sexuality while being haunted by a sinister supernatural entity.

The film has resonated with audiences for its nuanced portrayal of LGBTQ+ themes and has previously won the Audience Award at The Reeling Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival. It is set to continue its festival circuit with an upcoming screening at the Chattanooga Film Festival in June.

Stephen Stanley, the producer of "Ganymede," commented on the acquisition: "Their passion for distributing films that provoke thought and encourage dialogue is exactly what 'Ganymede' needs to connect with a global audience."

This acquisition is part of a broader initiative by Iris Indie International, which is also presenting five other award-winning films and two documentaries at Cannes this year, reinforcing its commitment to diverse and impactful cinema.

Details about the deal for North American distribution rights are expected to be announced soon, which will further enhance the film's visibility and accessibility.
