AGOURA HILLS, Calif., September 28, 2023 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - The child health organization, MendingKids.org, has revealed plans for its 5th annual "Hike 2 Mend" event. Scheduled for October 7th at Peter Strauss Ranch in Agoura Hills, CA, the event is geared toward raising awareness about health equity and the persistent barriers parents confront in procuring surgical care for their children.

Highlighting the essence of the event, a spokesperson from MendingKids.org stated, "This hike represents a symbolic journey, echoing the challenges parents undergo when they seek vital medical care for their kids." The hike offers an experiential aspect with the "Carry the Load Challenge", where participants bear backpacks filled with rice. This act is intended to symbolize the weight of a baby that parents might have to carry over expansive distances to reach medical facilities. Notably, the rice accumulated during the event will be subsequently donated to the West Valley Food Pantry.

The event, set to commence at 8:00 AM and conclude by 11:00 AM, is not merely an awareness campaign but also functions as a nexus for community interaction. It has garnered the backing of several sponsors, including Rebecca Bowman, La Cañada Junior Women’s Club, Karma Bakery, Bü Sunscreen, and Gerry Bailey Farms.

Emphasizing the significance of such initiatives, a representative remarked, “Our organization has been unwavering in addressing health discrepancies, especially in the realm of pediatric care. 'Hike 2 Mend' is a testament to our dedication toward promoting health equity and ensuring child welfare."

The event is open to the public and does not require any participation fee. For individuals wishing to gain more insight or register for the "Hike 2 Mend" event, they are directed to the official website, events.mendingkids.org.
