HOUSTON, November 2, 2023 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - Nebula Compute Inc., known for its advanced cloud computing platforms designed for space, has been awarded a Direct-to-Phase II contract by AFWERX, the innovation arm of the Air Force Research Laboratory. This contract is a strategic move to develop on-orbit computing capabilities to meet the urgent needs of the Department of the Air Force (DAF).
The award is part of an initiative by the Air Force Research Laboratory and AFWERX to reform the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. These improvements aim to expedite the process for small businesses, widening the applicant pool, and reducing administrative burdens, thus fostering innovation more efficiently.
Since the DAF's Open Topic SBIR/STTR program launch in 2018, the department has broadened the innovation it supports. Nebula Compute will now contribute to this innovation spectrum by delivering capabilities expected to bolster the U.S. national defense.
Nebula Compute's Co-Founders, Michael Bloxton and Peter Stridh, shared their enthusiasm: “We are excited to be part of the future Space Force Architecture, advancing the Defense, JADC2, and Enterprise Data Architecture capabilities.”
