New Use Energy Selected as Finalist in 'Clean Power for Hours' Challenge
PHOENIX, October 17, 2023 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - New Use Energy, a provider of renewable energy solutions, has been announced as one of the nine finalists in the "Clean Power for Hours Challenge." This competition, organized by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in celebration of Earth Day 2023, seeks innovative backup power solutions capable of sustaining critical facilities during prolonged electrical outages lasting over 36 hours.
New Use Energy's selection as a finalist includes a $15,000 award, propelling the company into the next phase, where it will showcase its pioneering solution, the NUE SunKit™. The finalists are vying for additional prizes totaling over $700,000.
New Use Energy's selection underscores its commitment to providing cost-effective, user-friendly, and environmentally friendly backup power solutions. These solutions aim to contribute to national resilience in the event of power disruptions. The challenge seeks to advance technologies with a Technical Readiness Level (TRL) of 6 or higher and is part of the DHS's broader efforts to address climate change-related risks.
Paul Shmotolokha, CEO of New Use Energy, said, "We are thrilled to be selected as finalists in DHS’s forward-thinking approach to providing new powering solutions for America’s security and emergency response actions. Made in Phoenix, Arizona, and Anacortes, Washington, the NUE SunKit™ offers a powerful expandable system with up to 4kw of solar input, all housed in a portable, rugged, but easy-to-handle USA-made steel enclosure. The SunKit™ has already been battle-tested from Louisiana to Maui to Ukraine, and we appreciate the recognition by DHS for fostering innovation."
Lee Feliciano, COO, added, "The SunKit™ was designed based on feedback from our disaster relief partners who noted the limitations of consumer-grade products for regular, extended use. The SunKit strikes a balance between portability, power, and durability."
New Use Energy specializes in developing and distributing proprietary, state-of-the-art, ruggedized mobile solar generator systems for demanding commercial and industrial applications, providing clean, renewable power where needed.
