Fort Monroe Authority Names Scott D. Martin as Chief Executive Officer

FORT MONROE, Va., November 27, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) — The Fort Monroe Authority (FMA), a government agency specializing in the stewardship, preservation, and development of National Historic Landmark Fort Monroe, has announced the appointment of Scott D. Martin as its new Chief Executive Officer. According to the organization, Martin will assume his role in January 2025 following a national search.
Martin has over 20 years of leadership experience in economic development, historic preservation, and urban park projects. He currently serves as Administrator of Chattanooga Parks & Outdoors, where he led transformative initiatives, including the city’s first Comprehensive Parks & Outdoors Plan in over 25 years and the redevelopment of the Chattanooga Riverfront. His efforts secured $8.4 million in philanthropic and public funding for parks and recreation projects.
“Fort Monroe is a national treasure, and Scott’s expertise in economic development and historic preservation will help us build on its strengths. We look forward to his leadership in creating a vibrant future for this exceptional site,” said Caren Merrick, Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade.
