Pandion Creative’s Documentary "Meko" Accepted into Maine Outdoor Film Festival

PORTSMOUTH, N.H., June 14, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) – Pandion Creative, a production studio led by director Harrison Buck, announced that their feature documentary "Meko" has been accepted into the 2024 Maine Outdoor Film Festival. The film, produced in collaboration with oakpool, follows professional fishing guide Omeko “Meko” Glinton as he strives to achieve his dream of owning a bonefishing lodge in Grand Bahama.

This marks the second time Buck has had a feature accepted into the Maine Outdoor Film Festival. His earlier film, "The Tightest Line," also starring Glinton, was screened at the festival in 2014. Buck remarked on the ongoing collaboration with the festival, saying, “This is a really special partnership we have going with MOFF. They took a chance on us 10 years ago, and we couldn't be happier to be back. I have spent a lot of time in the wilds of Maine as a camper and I love the Dirigo spirit. We can’t wait to share our story around the proverbial campfire in July down in Portland.”

"Meko" is described by Buck as more than just a typical fishing film, focusing instead on the personal journey of Glinton, his family, and their community. Buck explained, “We have all along been trying to make a film that is far away from the industry standard of being fish-landing-focused... We have a story about a man, his family and legacy and all of that their community has gone through. There is a little bit of something for everyone to resonate with on a human-level.”

The Maine Outdoor Film Festival, a longstanding event in Portland, has been running for over 12 years and is set to take place from July 24-28. The festival attracts over 190 submissions annually, with around 95 films being selected for screening. It offers filmmakers the opportunity to showcase their work to an audience of more than 1,500 attendees, though only 10 awards are presented each year.

Pandion Creative and oakpool are also aiming to secure streaming distribution for "Meko" to raise awareness about the challenges faced by the Bahamian community, particularly concerning climate change and extreme weather.
