TRUMBULL, Conn., June 23, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - ZetrOZ Systems introduced its innovative sam® sustained acoustic medicine device during a technology demonstration at the 15th annual TOBI Orthobiologic Symposium, held from June 20-22 at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. This event was organized in conjunction with the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

At booth #319, ZetrOZ Systems showcased the sam® X1 wearable ultrasound unit, which is available for purchase in bundles of four or more by physicians and medical professionals for use in their practices.

Dr. Jason Krystofiak delivered a presentation titled “Long Duration Ultrasound (LDU) for the Treatment of Knee Osteoarthritis and Low Back Pain: RCTs” at the symposium on Saturday, June 22, at 4:20 p.m. Following his talk, Dr. Krystofiak, along with Dr. Adam Telmonde, hosted an “Ask Us Anything” panel discussion.

Dr. Krystofiak, who serves as division chief of Sports Medicine at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, N.J., and as medical director of the Matthew J. Morahan III Health Assessment Center for Athletes at RWJBarnabas Health, also acts as a team physician for Rutgers University. He has been at the forefront of integrating sustained acoustic medicine with other treatment modalities for sports injuries.

In a recent webinar hosted by the TOBI Network, Dr. Krystofiak discussed the integration of PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy with the sam® device for enhanced treatment outcomes. He presented findings from a study on 35 elite college athletes, published in August 2023 in the journal Orthopedic & Muscular System: Current Research. The study demonstrated that athletes receiving both PRP and long-duration ultrasound treatments using the sam® 2.0 device returned to play 21.3 days sooner than those who received PRP treatment alone. Additionally, these athletes reported less pain and improved overall health, with no adverse effects observed during follow-ups six months post-treatment.

“The combination of PRP+LDU therapy provides a significant reduction in time to return to sport without impacting the long-term durability of the soft tissue. It increases pain reduction and overall health improvement for patients recovering from a sport-related injury,” stated Dr. Krystofiak.

Dr. Krystofiak’s research contributes to a growing body of evidence supporting the efficacy of sustained acoustic medicine, which now includes more than 40 studies in peer-reviewed publications. ZetrOZ Systems’ sam® devices remain the only FDA-cleared, long-duration ultrasound treatment for prescription home use, successfully aiding the recovery of hundreds of thousands of patients.

George K. Lewis, CEO of ZetrOZ Systems, commented on the importance of the symposium, “We’re grateful to The Orthobiologic Institute and American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians for providing a platform to share advancements in this field. Our technology has allowed physicians and other health care providers to help hundreds of thousands of patients heal without the need for pain medication or invasive procedures.”
