Extra Special People Expands to Savannah to Support Families with Disabilities
SAVANNAH, Ga., September 30, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) – Extra Special People, Inc. (esp), a nonprofit focused on supporting individuals with disabilities by creating after-school programs, hosting events, providing employment training, and offering family resources has announced the expansion of its services to Savannah, Georgia. This marks esp’s fourth location and the first in southern Georgia, with the aim of broadening its reach to serve more communities.
Wayne Hoover, a member of the company’s National Board of Directors member for the company commented on the expansion, stating, "On behalf of the board of directors, I want to share our excitement in welcoming Savannah as our next esp city. The energy, excitement, and reception we have experienced in Savannah give us tremendous confidence that together we will make a positive impact."
The expansion into Savannah was driven by the efforts of local residents, including Becky Brown and Anna Salter, co-owners of Coastal Pediatrics Therapies. Brown opened up about the need for a community-focused approach, stating, "By working together we can build a better community of inclusivity for every participant with disabilities and their families, truly changing our community for the better."
To introduce the program, esp will host a pop-up event on November 10th at Compassion Christian Church’s East Campus. The event will provide information on esp’s programs and services, offering community members the opportunity to meet with the organization’s team.
"We believe in a world where every person, regardless of ability, has access to transformative experiences. esp is not just a program – it is a community throughout an individual's lifespan", said Laura Hope Whitaker, CEO of esp and Co-Founder of Java Joy.
