Southern Linc Names Alan McIntyre as Vice President of Engineering and Operations
ATLANTA, November 4, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) – Wireless telecommunications provider, Southern Linc, a subsidiary of Southern Company, has appointed Alan McIntyre as Vice President of Engineering and Operations. According to the company, McIntyre will lead a team dedicated to delivering secure and resilient wireless voice and data services to Southern Company’s systems, as well as local and state government customers.
McIntyre has 30 years of experience in the wireless telecommunications industry. Formerly Southern Linc’s Engineering Director, he led the company’s shift to LTE technology, overseeing the development of geographically redundant core data centers, the construction of 1,300 LTE cell sites, and the installation of mission-critical push-to-talk (MCPTT) subsystems. His involvement also included contributions to the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) standards organization, supporting Southern Linc’s transition to LTE.

In addition to his work on LTE technology, McIntyre has been involved in regulatory proceedings with the FCC, including the 800 MHz rebanding and broadband operations initiatives. He also contributed to Southern Company’s success in FCC spectrum auctions, securing licenses for the company's use.
McIntyre holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA in Management Information Systems from Auburn University. He currently serves on Auburn’s board for the Wireless Engineering Research and Education Center.
